New Delhi: The havoc of the Corona epidemic in India may have subsided, but the threat has not yet been completely averted. In the upcoming IPL 2022, the BCCI is not taking it lightly and is ready to take some strict steps and severe restrictions. There may be stringent restrictions on violation of protocol by players and team officials during IPL 2022. It can range from a one-match suspension to being in quarantine for seven days or being removed from the entire league.

On the other hand, there will be even more stringent restrictions on breaking the bio-bubble by a player or a family member of a match official. According to a report in Cricbuzz, if a team deliberately allows an outsider to enter the team's bio-bubble, it can be punished with up to Rs 1 crore for the first mistake and later deduct one or two points from the team's tally if a mistake is made. The BCCI has said, "The Corona epidemic is a serious threat to the health of individuals and cooperation, commitment and adherence by every person under these operational rules is paramount for the measures taken to provide a safe environment."

In Table A of penalties, it is stated that if a bio bubble is broken by a player, team official or match official, they will impose stringent restrictions on them. On committing the first offence, a 7-day re-quarantine or such other period as may be provided in the health and safety protocols during IPL 2022. On committing the second offence, the suspension of one match (without salary) shall take effect after the completion of the period of 7 days or after such period as may be given in the health and safety protocol during IPL 2022. The third offence can be removed from the registered team for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, there are also two types of restrictions for family members.

First- the family member will have to be in re-quarantine for a need of 7 days or for such other period as may be provided in the health and safety protocol during IPL 2022.

Second: For the rest of the season, there is a need for permanent removal of a team or family member from the bubble and a 7-day quarantine is required for the need of the concerned player, team official, match officer or such other period, which can be provided in the health and safety protocols.

The board has also listed some other restrictions. Which are as follows:-

Violation: If a franchisee is unable to field the team for any match due to the availability of less than 12 players, then the final XI should have at least 7 Indians, along with plus 1 substitute fielder.

Approval: The BCCI will at its discretion try to reschedule the match for the subsequent session. If this does not happen, the issue will be referred to the IPL Technical Committee. The decision of the IPL Technical Committee will be final.

Restrictions have also been placed for those who are not doing corona testing. A warning will be issued on the first offence and a fine of Rs 75,000 per offence will be levied for committing the crime later. Criminals in this category will not be eligible for entry into the stadium or training facility until the missed examination is done. The 15th season of the IPL will start from March 26, in which CSK and KKR will face each other in the first match.
