Mass Army Chief Pawan Kalyan addressed the 22nd TANA (Telugu) Conference held in Washington, the U.S. Speaking on the occasion, he said an electoral defeat cannot prevent him from advancing in politics. "It took me 15 minutes to get out of the electoral debacle."

Pawan said he was proud of his defeat as he fought with election values. "This election gave us the strength to move forward. We have entered politics to give something in society, not to snatch anything from society."

"We will continue to play politics with pride." Speaking on several issues, Pawan said: "caste has become a barrier to development in Andhra Pradesh." Speaking on the political landscape at present, the Jan Sena chief said that "a political party should not be reduced to a caste union."

On his defeat, Pawan Kalyan said he took inspiration from Nelson Mandela to accept the defeat. "I have decided to go beyond caste, regional and religious lines and draw inspiration from Mandela to unite the society. I don't want to see my children grow up in a divided society," he said.
