Jammu and Kashmir: Encounter continues in Shopian, one Indian soldier killed

Srinagar:Aan encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir,  An Indian soldier has been martyred in this encounter. A joint team of 34RR, SOG and CRPF of the army conducted a search operation in Pandushan area of Shopian district. According to sources, the army has cordoned off 2 to 3 militants in the area.

It may be mentioned that the security forces have been targeting the militants in Jammu and Kashmir for the past few days. In Shopian, the encounter between security forces and militants has been going on for the second consecutive day. Earlier on Thursday, security forces had killed a terrorist in an encounter in Encounter. Three terrorists, who were carrying out an encounter near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector of Bandipora district, were killed by security forces late Tuesday night.

Earlier, security forces gunned down two dreaded Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists in Bijbehara area. The dead included Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Fayaz Panju. Dgp Dilbag Singh of Jammu and Kashmir said that the security forces received information about the presence of terrorists in Bijbehara. The National Rifles, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched a search operation in Bijbehara.
