Women's Exploitation From 'Triple Divorce' is not stopping, another case comes in light

New Delhi: Another Triple Talaak cases have come to light from Surat district of Gujarat. A woman has alleged that her father did not pay Rs 40,000 to buy e-rickshaws therefore her husband gave her triple Talaq. The woman has asked the police to punish her husband and get justice.

At present, the ACP Special Branch has said that the case has been registered and further investigation is on. Several such cases of triple talaq have come to light. The triple talaq bill has been passed by the Lok Sabha amid heavy opposition.

During voting, 303 votes were cast in favor of the bill, while 82 votes were cast against the bill. Before voting, JDU, TRS, YSR Congress and TMC staged a walkout from Parliament. While the JDU was excluded from the TMC vote, the BJD voted in favour of the bill. The TRS, YSR remained against the Congress bill.

Earlier, while discussing the bill, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the Bill banning triple talaq is not a question of statehood, creed, communalism, but it is a question of "respect for women and women's justice" and the issue of Hindustan.
