New Delhi :It is also a matter of great pride that the Cochin International Airport has been awarded the UN Champions of the Earth Award for its leadership in the use of sustainable energy. The UN has also noted PM Narendra Modi's efforts towards eliminating single-use plastic in India by 2022.

Cochin International Airport bagged home the award for Entrepreneurial Vision, for its leadership in the use of sustainable energy because it is continually showing the world that our ever-expanding network of global movement doesn't have to harm the environment. It is the world's first fully solar-powered airport. It proves positively that green business is good business.

The French President Emmanuel Macron along with PM Modi also have been awarded in the Policy Leadership category, for their efforts regarding the International Solar Alliance.

The Cochin International Airport took home the ?Entrepreneurial Vision? The other winners  are ?

1- Environmental and indigenous rights defender Joan Carling and the ?Beyond Meat and Impossible Food? in the Science and Innovation category for their popular, plant-based alternative to beef and ?their efforts to educate consumers about environmentally conscious alternatives.?

2-China?s Zhejiang?s Green Rural Revival Programme was conferred by  for the Inspiration and Action for the ?transformation of a once heavily polluted area of rivers and streams in East China?s Zhejiang province award.?

All the awards, the UNEP stated that will be bestowed during the Champions of the Earth Gala in New York City, on the sidelines of the 73rd UN General Assembly. It is the UN?s highest environmental recognition ?celebrating exceptional figures from the public and private sectors and from civil society, whose actions have had a transformative positive impact on the environment,? the UNEP staed.

Congratulating to PM Modi BJP national President Amit Shah took his official twitter handle and said, ?It is a matter of great pride for every Indian that PM @narendramodi has been awarded the UN Champions of the Earth Award in the Policy Leadership category.
