Another former Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has been arrested in a financial indivisibility. They have been arrested by the National Accountability Bureau. He has been arrested on charges of profligate spending during his prime minister's tenure. Abbasi took over as prime minister for less than a year after Nawaz Sharif was imprisoned last year.

The arrest of former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was reported to the media by Paradise Ashik Awan, adviser to the media and Communications Minister Murad Saeed. He said his arrest was decided at a cabinet meeting. Awan said that the cabinet has paid money to former rulers of the country, Asif Ali Zardari and Mamnoon Hussain and former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif, Yousuf Raza Gilani, King Pervez Ashraf and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, who have been in debt in the past ten years. They have expressed deep concern over the unrelenting expenditure.

The Cabinet decided to recover the tax levied by the former rulers on the vacancies and royal expenses of the people.  Abbasi was arrested when he was addressing a press conference in Lahore.
