Bengal elections: Another TMC candidate dies from corona, wife accuses EC of murder

New Delhi: The eighth phase of polling is underway in West Bengal on Guruwar even after the rising havoc of the corona epidemic. Meanwhile, his wife has lodged a complaint against the Election Commission after a Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate died of covid. On April 25, Kajal Sinha, a TMC candidate from Khardah, died due to corona virus.

Expressing anger over her husband's death, his wife Nandita Sinha has accused the Election Commission of murder. Nandita Sinha has levelled negligence and negligence against several officials including bypoll commissioner Sudeep Jain, which has led to the death of several other candidates including her husband. Nandita Sinha wrote in a police complaint that while the entire country was battling a new strain of corona virus, the Election Commission decided to hold eight phases of elections in West Bengal, which stretched from March 27 to April 29. Nandita Sinha further wrote that voting was over in a day in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and assam completed in three phases.

In her complaint, Nandita Sinha wrote that the Trinamool Congress had twice recommended to the Election Commission on April 16 and April 20 to get the remaining phases done simultaneously. But the Commission did not listen and ordered in favour of the defence that no rally would be held after 7 pm.
