IED blast in Chhattisgarh by Naxalites, one policeman martyred, 1 injured

Raipur:A IED blast was carried out by naxalites in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday in which one constable was killed and another policeman was said to be injured. A police official said, the incident took place at 9.30 am in Kutru police station area, about 450 km from Raipur.

He said a team of security personnel was conducting a search operation in the area to ensure safety of the ongoing road construction work there. According to the official, when the patrol cordoned off the forest near Ambeli village, about four km from Kutru, the naxalites detonated IED.

He further informed that head constable Kalendra Prasad Naik was killed in the blast and constable Kamal Thakur was injured in the IED. The official said that search operation is still going on in the area and the bodies of the injured policeman and the deceased head constable have been taken to Bijapur.
