Kathmandu: In view of rising coronavirus cases in Nepal, the nationwide lockdown issued on Sunday evening has been extended for a week. The number of coronavirus infected patients in Nepal has increased to five. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting held at Baluvatar, the residence of PM KP Sharma Oli in the capital Kathmandu.

During this time the decision was taken to extend the lockdown to eight days for the next seven days. Earlier last week, the government implemented a lockdown in the country, which was going to end on the 31st of this month. A high-level government coordination committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Prakash on Sunday afternoon had recommended the extension of the lockdown to the administration led by PM Oli.
