Former World Champion Viswanathan Anand will lead the Indian challenge in the FIDEChase.com online Nations Cup to be held from May 5 to 10. The Indian team includes the country's number two players Vidit Gujarati, P Harikrishna and Koneru Hampi.
B. Adhiban and D. Harika are Reserve Members. Fide said on his website that former world champion Vladimir Kramnik is the mentor of the Indian team. Six former world champions will participate in the tournament. China (average ELO rating 2717) in the tournament is followed by Europe (2687), Russia (2662), America (2641), India (2605) and 'Rest of the World' team (2597). China's team consists of world number three Ding Liren, Wang Hao, Wei Yi and Hou Yifan along with Yu Yangyi and current women's world champion Xu Wenjun.
The strong European team will be led by France's Maxim Vachier LaGreve, comprising Levon Aronian, Aneesh Giri and Anna Mujichuk, while Jan Kristof Duda and Nana Jagnidje are the reserve players. Former World Champion Gary Kasparov will captain it. FIDE President Arkadi Vorkovich will be the captain of the 'Rest of the World' team.
