Nominations for the Padma Awards to be announced on January 20, 2022, have begun. Nominations for the awards will be received online only on the Padma Awards website https://padmaawards.gov.in. The last date of nomination is September 15, 2021. This has been reported by the Union Home Ministry.

The same Padma Award is one of India's highest civilian honours announced every year on the eve of Republic Day. The awards are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of higher-order) and Padma Shri (distinguished service). There are many talented people in India who are doing extraordinary work on the ground, the PM said on Twitter to invite individuals to enrol for the same award. Also last month, the Central Government started online nominations for the Padma Awards 2022. The last date of nomination is September 15, 2021. The awards will be announced on the occasion of Republic Day in 2022. "Therefore, there is an appeal to make concerted efforts to identify people whose excellence and achievements should be recognized and appropriately nominated in their favour," the letter was written by R.K. Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, said.
