DAVANGERE: The Karnataka Forest Department began its "lone tusker" effort on Monday to trap and capture the tusker which killed a girl student and injured five persons last week.

Beginning on Monday, the forest agency intends to roe in six elephants in the operation. A total of 150 people, including ten teams of ten employees each, are being called into duty.

From Bangalore, experts in the fields of drones and elephants have been called. The team is launching operations based on the traces of footprints of the tusker in the region.

The tusker has upset the balance of life in the Channagiri Taluq villages of Somlapura and Kashipura. The tusker has been attacking locals and posing a threat.

The authorities have asked the villagers of the region not to attempt in the night and stop going to their farmlands for a few days. They have also asked the villagers not to follow the team while the operation is going on as it proves to be independent.
