Mumbai: Heavy rain has wreaked the havoc in  Maharashtra. There has been extensive loss of life and property. People are being rescued with the help of Air Force. Amidst all this, another issue has taken a toll. The controversy is over the food bags given to the flood victims. The opposition is upset over the photo of the Chief Minister and the MLA on the bags of food grains and food items given to the flood victims. He says that the government is campaigning in the name of flood relief.

In Maharashtra, food grains were distributed among the people in the flood-hit Sangli district. These bags distributed to the flood affected people contain rice and wheat on which a sticker has also been pasted. It has been photographed by state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP MLA Suresh Halwankar. A caption on the photo is also written (August 2019) free rice and wheat distributed to flood affected families.

Describing the allegation as false, the MLA said that the opposition is blaming him because the manner in which the government has provided immediate relief to the flood affected people has left no issue to him. Defending the use of bags, the legislator said the move will help the affected people to know that the food grains are being given to them free of cost by the government. The southwest part of the country is in the grip of floods these days.
