In West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has now remembered the founder of the Jan Sangh, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on his death anniversary. Not only Mukherjee's death anniversary celebrated by the Trinamool Congress, but instead of his broken statue, a new one was unveiled. Bharatiya Janata Party has taken a dig at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's decision to celebrate Jan Sangh's founder Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's death anniversary. The party said that now Mamta has understood that ignoring Shyama Prasad can cost her a lot. Meanwhile, a rally in the metropolis was held on Saturday in the lead of state BJP leaders.

State BJP President Dilip Ghosh, who recently received headlines for his provocative statements, said that for a long time, Mamta Banerjee is finally recognizing the contribution of a Bengali. He said that the late government took the right decision to pay homage to Shyama Prasad on his death anniversary.

The state government has celebrated the death anniversary of Shyama Prasad for the first time. On this occasion, two ministers of the government, Firhad Hakim and Shobhanadan Chatterjee paid a tribute by adding a new statue of Mukherjee wearing garland. On the other hand, BJP's national secretary Rahul Sinha has blamed Mamata for subversion of Mukherjee's statue.

Three months after the demolition of the statue of Shyamas Prasad Mukherjee, founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, a new statue has been set up in the metropolis in the same place. Senior leaders of Trinamool Congress put garland and unveiled a new statue of Mukherjee.
