Orange alert issued in Uttarakhand, Met Office warns

Dehradun: In Uttarakhand, heavy monsoon rains have brought relief to the people from the humid conditions, but landslides are reported at many places. On the other hand, Four Dham Yatra routes are operational. The Met department has predicted heavy rain in several parts of Uttarakhand during the next 48 hours. The Met Department has issued an orange alert for the state.

The disaster management machinery has also been asked to remain vigilant to ensure that Four Dham Yatra and tourists do not face any problems in the state. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Centre, heavy rain is also expected in Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Haridwar, Tehri and Udhamsingh Nagar districts for the next 48 hours. The Met department has issued an alert and instructed the district administration to be careful.

The entire village of Rudraprayag district, adjoining Gochar in Chamoli district, was hit by a landslide due to heavy rains which caused severe problems to the people. The village's drinking water line was also broken. The 25 to 35 meter road of the village was also washed away due to rain. No casualty has been reported in the incident.
