New Delhi: Famous fugitive diamond trader Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi have looted another bank after PNB. The victims of both have been Oriental Bank of Commerce this time. The bank has said that the pair of fugitive diamond businessman Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi have also taken away Rs 289 crore. This information has come in when OBC is going to merge with PNB.

The banking sector of the country was shaken after the news of Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi defrauding PNB of Rs 13,500 crore in February last year. 18 months after the incident came to light, the OBC has now issued a notice declaring both the fugitive traders and their companies as willful defaulters. The bank has said that the two traders had taken a loan of Rs 289 crore from its Mumbai-based branch.

According to the notice, Nirav Modi's company Firestar International Pvt Ltd and Firestar Diamond Pvt. Ltd. 60.41 crore of OBC and 32.25 crore loan has not been returned. Choksi's Gitanjali Gems Limited and Nakshatra World Limited have not returned loans of 13.45 crore and 59.53 crore to OBCs. After the scandal surfaced last year, both of them fled the country along with the accused members of their family. On March 21, 2018, the OBC declared his loan as NPA.
