Odisha registers 10,757 new corona cases, 22 killed in 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: Infection cases rose to 6,22,981 on Monday after 10,757 more corona virus cases were reported in Odisha, while the death toll due to 22 more people losing their lives due to the virus reached 2,335. A health department official said that the number of people undergoing covid-19 treatment in the state has increased to 1,06,061.

He said that out of 10,757 new patients, 6,024 cases have come to light from various quarantine centres and the rest have been found while tracking down people who came in contact with infected people. Cuttack reported the highest number of 973 new cases. 909 new cases have been registered in Khurda, 832 in Sundergarh, 606 in Angul, 507 in Bolangir and 502 in Nuapada. Out of all the 29 districts except Kandhamal, more than 100 new cases were reported. Three patients each lost their lives in Khurda, Boudh, Koraput, Nuapada, Raigadha and Sundergarh districts, while one patient each lost their lives in Gajapati and Puri districts while two succumbed to their injuries in Angul district.

At the same time, 53 corona patients have died due to other diseases in the State. According to the official, at least 12,077 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people who have become infection free in the state to 5,14,532. The transition rate in Odisha is 5.69 per cent.
