Bhubaneswar: Government employees have received a big gift ahead of Diwali. The Dearness Allowance of lakhs of Government employees has been increased. The Odisha government has taken this decision. On Friday, the Odisha government announced an increase of 11 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees.

According to the Odisha government, the dearness allowance has been increased by 11 per cent to 28 per cent. This will be added to the salary for October in November. According to the Government, the Dearness Allowance will come into effect from July 2021. The arrears from July 1, 2021, will be credited to the bank accounts of Odisha Government employees and pensioners this month. The decision is estimated to benefit more than 4 lakh employees and 3.5 lakh, pensioners.

The Odisha government has also changed the Group Insurance Scheme for all its employees. For employees with grade pay up to Rs.4800, the GIS fee has been increased from Rs.7,500 to Rs.20,000. Similarly, the GIS fee for employees with grade pay of Rs.5,400 or more has been increased from Rs.12,000 to Rs.30,000. As per the information provided by the CMO, the GIS fee will be deducted in 10 instalments as before the salary of the employees.
