land grab case: VP Jay Panda, wife in trouble after HC rejects protection from arrest

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha High Court has rejected the interim bail plea of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national vice-president Baijayant Jai Panda and his business wife Jagi Mangat Panda in a land grab case. Earlier on 6th of this month, the Odisha High Court had directed the police not to arrest Jai Panda and his wife till 12 November. In the new order, the Odisha High Court has rejected its own old judgment.

Let us tell you that BJP Vice President Jay Panda and his wife own the news channel OTV Network. The couple is also a shareholder in the Odisha Infratech Private Limited Company. The Economic Offenses Wing of Odisha Police has registered a case of illegal land grab against a company called Odisha Infratech Private Limited. According to the information received, this entire matter is being reported related to seven acres of land belonging to Scheduled Castes in Saura village of Khurda district.

It is alleged that Odisha Infratech has illegally bought land belonging to Scheduled Castes and Jai Panda is involved in this mess. On Friday, the Odisha High Court turned down the petition filed by the Odisha Infratech Private Limited Company asking for the removal of the FIR lodged against them.
