Bhubaneswar: A 36-year-old man stoned his wife to death in the Jajpur district of Odisha. The police official said that the accused returned home drunk in Ishwarpur village and had a heated argument with his wife over a small matter. In the meantime, the husband became angry and stoned his wife to death.

Police station in-charge Inamul Haque said the woman was found covered in blood when neighbors reached her house after hearing the woman's screams. She died before they could save her. Police said the accused has been arrested and a case has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police said the accused was produced before a court during the day from where he was remanded in judicial custody. Police say the accused is under interrogation. The woman's body has been rushed to the postmortem. Police will take further action as the postmortem report comes to light.

Earlier also, an inhuman incident was reported from Ranpur village in the Korai police station area of the Jajpur district of Odisha. Here, due to a family dispute, the husband beat his wife to death with a hammer. The deceased woman's name was Deeptimayi Jena. Both husband and wife were government teachers.
