DOHA: Despite Ghana's elimination from the World Cup on Friday, coach Otto Addo confirmed his resignation and looked to the future of his country's football in Doha.
"That I will halt after the World Cup was always obvious. I like my life at (Borussia) Dortmund (where he works as a talent coach) and want to stay there. My family and I see our position in Germany. Family will decide on this "Addo, who was optimistic about Ghana's future, said.
Giorgian de Arrascaeta reportedly scored twice in the first half to put Uruguay ahead 2-0, ending Ghana's World Cup run after Andre Ayew missed a penalty in the 19th minute.
"The athletes must persevere and have confidence in themselves. Experience can be gained by making mistakes, "Addo gave advise to whoever succeeds him, he added.
"There are areas where we need to improve our defence and attack skills. The players will learn from this experience and perform better the next time, I'm confident. This team has a promising future," he added.
"This is football; it can be both beautiful and horrible at times. Today was terrible "The coach offered encouragement to Ayew after he missed a penalty.
"There is no player in the world who has not missed a penalty," said Addo.
