Wednesday, Defense Minister Arun Jaitley said that India had achieved lessons from the war with China in 1962, with the emphasis that Indian forces can now face any challenge during the ongoing border dispute with China.
Initiating the special session on the 75th anniversary of the Quit India Movement in the Rajya Sabha, Jaitley said, "In the 1962 war with China, we have taken lessons that our security forces have to be fully prepared. The result of the preparations we got in 1965 and 1971. Our armies have become stronger."
Jaitley further said, "Some people have a conspiracy against our country's sovereignty and integrity, but I have full confidence that our brave soldiers are able to keep our country safe, whatever the challenge on the eastern or western border."
Defense Minister Jaitley said: "In these circumstances, the whole country should speak in unison, how can we strengthen the institutions of the country and how to fight against terrorism," Jaitley also said that terrorism is too big for the country's integrity. The challenge is because it snatched the lives of a Prime Minister (Indira Gandhi in 1984) and a former Prime Minister (Rajiv Gandhi in 1991). Referring to joining the movement of the entire country, due to his credibility when freedom fighters started the Quit India Movement in 1942, Jaitley said that the credibility of the public servants and the institutions can not be seen now, which need to be restored again.
