SEOUL: Outgoing South Korean President Moon Jae-in said on Wednesday that he hopes the incoming President Yoon Suk-government yeol's would do a good job by learning from the mistakes of its predecessor and building on the initiatives started by the outgoing government.

Moon made the statements during a meeting with senior officials at a presidential panel on state affairs earlier on Wednesday, saying he believes the next government's "concept of state affairs is different from ours in many aspects." Moon is slated to leave office next Monday. "Apart from philosophy and ideology, I hope the future government will build on what this government has done well and do better in light of what we lack," he said.

According to reports, Yoon has indicated a considerable deviation from Moon's policies, including foreign policy goals, inter-Korean relations, and economic projects.

Yoon's transition team announced 110 main policy priorities for his new government earlier this week, including a "revolutionary" strengthening of capabilities to respond to North Korea's nuclear and missile threats, as well as rejecting the nuclear phase-out policy.
