Over 40 people died in storm-related incidents across the country

A heavy dust storm and rain hit a number of other parts of the country including capital Delhi and the National Capital Region on Sunday.

As Strong wind, accompanied by dust, followed by rain, lashed bringing a sudden change in the weather claimed at least 40 people lives.

Dust storms were reported in areas of East Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon. In Delhi, two persons died due to storm while 18 persons have been hurt due to storm. Flights and Metro services were too affected due to the storm.   More than 70 flights were diverted because of the thunderstorm from delhi airport, while another 20 domestic and international flights were delayed due to the bad weather. However after sometimes, Delhi airport Runway reopened for Flight Movement. Many trees were uprooted in Delhi.

Dust storms also hit a number of others parts of the country. In Andhra Pradesh, eight persons died due to lightning and thunderstorm in Srikakulam district while in West Bengal, at least ten people died in storm related incidents while, one person died after wall collapsed.

In Uttar Pradesh, at least 18 people were died and 25 injured due to high velocity wind and storm. At least 10 huts caught fire due to lightning in Sanota village in Bulandshahr. About 100 houses were devastated in a fire which broke out due to lightning in Sambhal district's Rajpura area late Sunday night. Three fire tenders have been pressed into service to douse the fire, according to official sources.
