HYDERABAD: Asaduddin Owaisi, the head of  All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), asked on Wednesday that the Popular Front of India (PFI) cannot be backed by the government and questioned why right-wing majoritarian organisations have not been outlawed.

The Hyderabad MP said that even though he has consistently opposed PFI's methodology and backed democratic methodologies, this PFI ban cannot be accepted.

The AIMIM president believes that a draconian ban of this kind is dangerous as it is a ban on any Muslim who wishes to speak his mind. Owaisi tweeted.  Owaisi's multiple tweet reads "The way India's electoral autarky is approaching fascism, every Muslim youth will now be detained with a PFI pamphlet under India's black law, UAPA."

"Why is PFI prohibited yet organisations linked to those convicted of the bombings in Khaja Ajmeri are not? Why has the government not outlawed right-wing majoritarian groups? "He asked.

He claimed that just because certain members of an organisation commit crimes, that doesn't mean the group as a whole ought to be outlawed. He cited a Supreme Court ruling that said a person cannot be convicted for a crime based only on their affiliation with a group.

"Muslims have been imprisoned for several years before being freed by the courts. I have always opposed the UAPA and will continue to do so. It violates the fundamental principles of the constitution, particularly the principle of liberty "He composed.

Yechury made this big statement on PFI ban...

"We must keep in mind that Congress strengthened UAPA and that Congress backed BJP's efforts to further draconian the law. This case will go in the same manner as Kappan, in which any activist or journalist is arbitrarily detained and it takes two years to even obtain bail "he added.
