The first Oxygen Express train with about 70 tonnes of life-giving oxygen to Delhi has reached the national capital on Tuesday morning. The officials informed it that the oxygen is now going to be transported to various hospitals in the Delhi Government. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted that oxygen express from Raigad in Chhattisgarh has reached Delhi with oxygen for patients in the national capital.
Indian Railways will leave no stone unturned in our fight against corona and ensure adequate availability of life-giving resources across the country. Earlier, railways had said that it has planned to provide medical oxygen from Angul, Kalingnagar, Rourkela, and Raigad to Delhi and NCR region.
It has been learned that there is no information about the arrival of another such train in the national capital. Officials said the Delhi government will have to arrange tankers by road to deliver oxygen to the hospital. According to a health bulletin issued by the Health Ministry, Delhi reported the highest number of infection cases in a day on Monday, and 380 people died while the infection rate was above 35 percent.
