Oxygen Express arrives in Karnataka with 4th consignment, departed from Jamshedpur on Monday

Bangalore: An Oxygen Express train carrying 120 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen from Jamshedpur district of Jharkhand reached Bengaluru on Tuesday. South Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Anish Hegde has informed the media that 480 tonnes of oxygen has so far come into the state from Odisha and Jharkhand through trains.

He further said that the fourth train had left Jamshedpur in the early hours of Monday morning which reached Bengaluru this morning. There are six containers of liquid medical oxygen in this train. Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa had said that 1,200 tonnes of oxygen is required in the state in view of the increasing number of cases of corona virus. The Navy is also assisting in supplying oxygen, medical supplies in the state. The second wave of corona continues to rage in the country.

Lockdown-like restrictions are in place in most states in the country to control the corona menace. The lockdown is also leading to a decline in corona cases. Karnataka also has a lockdown in place till May 24 to control corona, which is expected to increase. Talking about corona cases in the country, according to the Union Health Ministry, more than 2.63 lakh new corona cases have been registered in the country in the last 24 hours. While more than 4.22 lakh corona patients have also recovered.
