New Delhi: Former Union Finance Minister and senior Congress leader have been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate. Before the arrest, three ED officials went to Tihar Jail and questioned Chidambaram.  The former finance minister was in judicial custody of the CBI in this case till now. Yesterday i.e. on Tuesday, the special court allowed three officials of the Enforcement Directorate to interrogate Chidambaram in the INX Media corruption case. The court had said that the agency can arrest Chidambaram after questioning if necessary. The former minister's son Karti and wife Nalini Chidambaram also reached Tihar.

Meanwhile, Chidambaram has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking bail. Rouse Avenue Court Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar allowed him to question Chidambaram for half an hour after 8.30 am on ED's plea on Tuesday. The court said that the agency should first make inquiries and arrest them if necessary. However, he has to explain the basics before the arrest. Earlier, the ED had sought to question and arrest Chidambaram in the court itself.

On which Chidambaram, senior advocate Kapil Sibal objected. He said that this method is not right. The dignity of a person should be taken care of. So the agency should interrogate him in jail. The court accepted Sibal's plea and allowed him to be interrogated in jail. Meanwhile, the CBI is ready to file a charge sheet in the INX Media corruption case and in this it can nominate P. Chidambaram and his son Karti.
