New Delhi: The Supreme Court will pronounce its verdict on the bail plea of former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram in the INX Media case today. The Delhi High Court had rejected Chidambaram's bail plea, on which a decision will come tomorrow. The top court reserved judgment on the bail plea of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram in INX Media case.

However, the CBI had told the Supreme Court on Friday that Chidambaram should not be granted bail in the case until the trial of the case begins and statements of key witnesses are recorded. On behalf of Chidambaram, his lawyer Kapil Sibal tried to assure the court that Chidambaram would not leave the country.

With this, the debate, in this case, was completed in the Supreme Court. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the CBI before a three-member bench of Justice R Bhanumati, had opposed Chidambaram's bail plea, saying the country would no longer tolerate corruption at all.

Mehta said, the charge sheet is based on scientific and professional scrutiny, in such a case, the accused Chidambaram cannot be released on bail. He said, to what extent are we ready to tolerate corruption. ED is investigating money laundering. There should be a policy of 'zero tolerance' against corruption and money laundering. He said that Chidambaram can leave the country and flee.
