New Delhi: Former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram is surrounded in the INX Media corruption case these days. He has sought bail from the apex court in this case. Along with this, he has accused the CBI of insulting him. He said that the CBI wants to keep him in custody to humiliate him. Senior Advocates Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi presented on behalf of Chidambaram. The bench headed by Bhanumati said that there is no allegation against the former finance minister or his family members that he ever approached or tried to influence any witness in the case.

Apart from this, there is no charge of financial loss or misappropriation of money against him. Chidambaram also questioned the findings of the High Court, which had on September 30 rejected Chidambaram's bail plea. Both the lawyers said that the High Court should not mention the merits of the case while deciding on the bail plea. Earlier, the CBI in an affidavit filed by the Supreme Court said that granting bail to Chidambaram would not only be against the Zero Tolerance Policy of the Supreme Court and the Government against corruption but would set a very wrong example in all cases of corruption. Today the hearing, in this case, is going to be held in the Supreme Court again.
