Significantly, INX is a media company. An FIR was registered against it on 15 May 2017. It has alleged that the Department for Foreign Investment Promotion, which approved foreign investment to benefit this media company, found many flaws in it. In such a situation, when the work of investment was done, P. Chidambaram was the Finance Minister at that time.

Apart from P. Chidambaram, charges were also framed against his son Kirti Chidambaram. During this time, Kirti was accused of misappropriating the inquiry against INX Media. At the same time, CBI says that Indrani Mukherjee, former director of INX Media, had revealed that Keerti had demanded money from her.
