NEW DELHI: Former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram is surrounded by odd situations these days. After his anticipatory bail was rejected by the Delhi High Court, he is facing the sword of the arrest. Chidambaram is a senior lawyer by profession. Senior lawyers like Kapil Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, and Salman Khurshid have reached the Supreme Court to save him. Chidambaram's petition was also sought for an urgent hearing by making a mention before the Registrar.
Shortly after taking a direction, the Registrar informed that the matter should be taken up in the court of the senior-most judge available on Wednesday morning. Though Chidambaram's advocates wanted the Supreme Court to give some relief on Tuesday or at least include the case in Wednesday's hearing list, nothing happened. Chidambaram will now make the case on Wednesday morning.
As the Chief Justice is sitting in the Constitution Bench for a day-to-day hearing of the Ayodhya case, he will not be facing any in-house. There is no new case before the Constitution Bench. Former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram has been put under arrest after the High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea and no relief from the Supreme Court. Both the CBI and ED are looking for them to be arrested by the investigating agencies. Congress party leaders are accusing the government of acting in a vendetta.
