NEW DELHI: Former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram has been badly involved in the INX media case. Both the CBI and the ED are behind them. Delhi High Court Judge Sunil Gaur, who rejected Chidambaram's plea, is retiring on Friday. He rejected the plea saying, prima facie the facts of the case show that the petitioner is the main conspirator.
The SC said that granting bail in the case will send a wrong message to society. Chidambaram was granted interim protection from the arrest by the High Court so far. Justice Gaud, meanwhile, heard another high-profile case. The case is related to the bank scam. The name of Ratul Puri, the nephew of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, is also known. Puri's interim bail plea has also been dismissed. Hours after Puri's arrest, Justice Gaud said that an effective investigation was necessary to interrogate him in custody.
Justice Gaud started his career with the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 1984. He was associated with the Delhi High Judicial Service in 1995. He has been in the Delhi High Court since 2008. In fact, Chidambaram has been accused of making a number of errors by the Department of Foreign Investment Promotion Board, which had approved foreign investment to benefit INX. At that time, the Finance Ministry was responsible for Chidambaram.
