New Delhi: Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court is likely to pronounce its decision on the arrest and interrogation of senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the INX Media money laundering case on Tuesday. The court issued a production warrant on the application of the Enforcement Directorate and directed Chidambaram to produce it. Special CBI Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar reserved the decision after hearing the arguments of ED and the defense on Tuesday till 4 pm today.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta asked the court for permission to arrest Chidambaram, saying that the INX case is different from the money laundering case of the CBI and they need to be arrested and questioned. The top court has also given its consent on this matter. On the other hand, opposing the Enforcement Directorate's application, senior advocate and Congress leader Kapil Sibal said that the entire case is one and the entire ED case is based on the CBI's FIR.

The CBI has questioned his client in this case. Chidambaram was sent to judicial custody only after the agency was questioned. Therefore, ED should not be remanded. Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI in the INX Media case on the night of 21 August. Chidambaram is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.
