New Delhi: The Congress party is facing severe criticisms of its own veteran leaders after the recent Bihar assembly elections and poor performance in several state by-elections. In this order, after Congress veteran Kapil Sibal, now the finance minister in the UPA government, P Chidambaram's reaction has come out.

He criticized the policy structure of the Congress and said that there has been a continuous decline in the performance of the party for some time. He said that Congress would have to be so courageous to identify those causes of decline and work on them. This reaction from former Union Minister P Chidambaram came after the embarrassing performance in Bihar Assembly and Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh by-elections.

Chidambaram has said that the Congress contested more seats than its organizational capacity. In an interview, he openly criticized the performance of the Congress. Chidambaram said that the by-elections are evidence that Congress has no hold from the organizational point of view. Not only this, the Congress has been weak in the states where by-elections have been held. Defeating the Mahagathbandhan, Chidambaram said that there were hopes of winning the Grand Alliance, yet we lost by winning.
