New Delhi: Congress veteran leader and former union minister P Chidambaram appealed to all opposition parties to come together against the agriculture bills, saying on Saturday that the Party should clear whether it is with the farmers of the country or with the BJP risking the livelihood of the farmers.

Chidambaram also claimed that the BJP is manipulating the promises made to the farmers in the Congress ' Manifesto related to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, while this government has surrendered before the corporate. Chidambaram said in a statement that the BJP has been entangled in its own trap. For decades, it has been a dominating party of traders and even today it is the same. The economy lacking in goods and services was exploited by them. The situation has begun to change after Indira Gandhi brought about a green revolution and liberalisation initiated by PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh.

According to Chidambaram, "today we have a large number of crops like wheat and rice. On the basis of farmers ' power, the Congress governments developed a food security system. After which the Food Security Act was enacted in 2013. The three pillars of our food security system are minimum support price, government procurement and public distribution system". He emphasized, "The Congress had created Manifesto in 2019 on the basis of these basic principles. PM Modi and BJP spokesman have deliberately manipulated the Congress ' Manifesto".
