New Delhi: A farmer from Bhagwanpur Nangal village in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat district on Ghazipur border died on Friday in protest against the new agriculture law brought by the central government. Expressing grief over this incident, Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram has asked the Central Government to take care of the wishes of the farmers.
P Chidambaram tweeted, "As the farmers 'movement along the Delhi border entered the 38th day, another farmer lost his life. I salute the farmers' resolve. The government should be agreed to reconsider the change in agricultural laws. Any new law should take into account the needs and desires of the farming community."
The dead body of the deceased farmer has been sent to his ancestral village. Rakesh Tikait, the leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, who is leading the agitation on the Ghazipur border, said that Garan Singh of Bhagwanpur Nangal village in Baghpat district was involved in the ongoing sit-in on the Ghazipur border and was perfectly healthy. On Friday, his health suddenly deteriorated and he died on the way to the hospital. The late Galan Singh was around 57 years old.
