New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader and former Union minister Chidambaram has hit out at Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman over payment of GST dues. He claimed on Wednesday that Nirmala Sitharaman is wrong to say that dues have been paid to all the states.

Referring to Nirmala Sitharaman's interaction with a private English channel, former Finance Minister Chidambaram tweeted, "In an interview with a channel yesterday, the Finance Minister said very angrily that GST dues have been paid to all states. The Finance Minister is not right. Their anger is not fair'. Chidambaram wrote in another tweet, 'Chhattisgarh owes Rs 3,069 crore as on June 1, 2021, yet the Finance Minister claimed that she has cleared gst dues of all states!'

Chidambaram said, "Rajasthan's GST outstanding as on March 31, 2021 was Rs 4635 crore. This number was mentioned in a letter written by the CM to the Finance Minister. Add another Rs.2507 crore by May 2021-22. The total outstanding of Rajasthan so far is Rs.71.42 crore. Chidambaram also said, "Punjab's GST arrears as on June 1, 2021 are Rs 7393 crore.''
