New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader and former Union minister P Chidambaram on Monday slammed PM Narendra Modi for his emphasis on democracy and ideological freedom at a G-7 group meeting, saying the modi government should first implement the sermons it gives to the whole world.

 

Chidarbam tweeted, "Prime Minister Modi's speech at the G-7 outreach meeting was inspiring as well as strange. The teachings given by the Modi government to the world should be implemented in India first,'' Chidambaram further wrote, ''It is sad that Prime Minister Modi was the only guest who was not directly present at the outreach meeting. Ask yourself, why? Because as far as the fight against Covid-19 is concerned, India's position is the most different. We are the most infected and least vaccinated countries in proportion to the population".

PM Modi, while addressing the G-7 summit session on Sunday, said that India is a natural partner of the G7 in protecting shared values from various threats arising out of dictatorship, terrorism, violent extremism, false information and economic coercion. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, In his address at the 'Free Societies and Free Economies' session of the G-7 Summit, Modi underlined India's civilizational commitment to democracy, ideological freedom and freedom. PM Modi addressed the session through video conferencing.
