Chennai: Congress veteran leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has attacked PM Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the removal of Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. P Chidambaram has accused the Central government of over-the-top Muslim population in Jammu and Kashmir and therefore the Central government has removed most of the provisions of Section 370 from there.
Speaking at an event in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, Chidambaram said, "If Jammu and Kashmir were a Hindu-dominated state, the BJP would not have taken away the special status of the state. But because There is a Muslim majority in Kashmir, they repealed it. It is worth mentioning here that the Modi government has revoked Section 370 and Article 35A from Jammu and Kashmir. The government has passed both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Houses and declared Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as Union Territories.
On the other hand, the Congress has split into two groups over the government's decision, while young Congress leaders like Jyotiraditya Scindia are supporting the government's decision, while several veteran leaders like Digvijay Singh, P Chidambaram are opposing it. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has also opposed the government's decision.
