Padma awardee Maulana Wahiduddin Khan dies of Corona infection at 96

New Delhi: Noted Islamic scholar and Padma Vibhushan Maulana Wahiduddin Khan (Maulana Wahiduddin Khan) has died of the Covid-19 infection on Wednesday night. He was 96 years old. He was recently admitted to the hospital after being infected with the corona virus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled his demise.

PM Modi wrote on his official Twitter handle, "Saddened by the death of Maulana Wahiduddin Khan. He will be remembered for his deep knowledge of theology and spiritual issues. He was also serious about community service and social empowerment. My condolences to his family and countless well wishers." His family members said that he breathed his last at Apollo Hospital in Delhi at around 9.30 pm. He was hospitalized on April 12 due to a corona virus infection. They will be handed over on Thursday.

MaulanaWahiduddin translated the Quran into English and also wrote a comment on the Quran. He was counted among the greatest Islamic scholars. He has also written many books. Maulana Wahiduddin Khan was born on January 1, 1925 in Azamgarh, UP. He was announced to be awarded the Padma Vibhushan this year. He was also awarded the Padma Bhushan in the year 2,000.
