New Delhi [India], Jan 31: Padmaavat is showing excellent hold at the box office as the collections are yet to go below the 50% number of what the film collected on Thursday. Even on Tuesday, the footfalls were quite steady and as a result 13 crore* more came in.
As a result, the film’s total so far reads 142 crore and this is quite healthy. Moreover, it also pretty much indicates that the film’s word of mouth has been largely positive and anything average or below is not making any difference whatsoever to its fortunes. To continue scoring in double-digit is a huge feat indeed for the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film and now it is a given that the trending would stay on till Thursday at least. "I think there is a time for everything. The film has spoken for itself, like you have seen the reactions to the film. It has been phenomenal. That is in a way the best response we can give, through the work that we do," said Deepika. The movie stars Deepika in the lead role of the queen Rani Padmini. Shahid Kapoor essays the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh portrays Alauddin Khilji, the 13th Century ruler of the Khilji Dynasty.
Even if it goes a bit down on the second Friday, the film would continue to score over 10 crore each on rest of the weekdays and that would set it well for the 200 Crore Club. Ironically, the Karni Sena was dead set against the song Ghoomar, as they believed it demeaned the honour of Rani Padmini. They were furious, as Deepika's mid-riff was exposed during the sequence. After much angst, death threats, and name-calling, Deepika's mid-riff was covered, thanks to VFX effects.
