Bhopal: Indians have not forgotten the Bhopal gas tragedy . Let me tell you that it has been 37 years since this gas scandal. This day is the most painful day recorded in the pages of history. This is an incident that is still alive in the minds of the people. The incident has devastated thousands of lives overnight. The incident took place on the night of 2-3 December 1984 in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, which shook the whole world, including India. You all must be aware that on the chilly night of 2-3 December in Bhopal, when everyone was sleeping, suddenly poisonous gas started leaking from the Union Carbide India Limited Limited plant here. Within a short time, the poisonous gas spread rapidly throughout the city, and by the time people understood it was too late.

In no time, thousands of lives were permanently embraced to death by this gas. The entire incident was caused by a gas leak at the pesticide plant of Union Carbide India Limited. You must know that after this tragic incident, Warren Anderson, chief managing officer of Union Carbide, left India overnight and fled to the US. This tragic incident at that time had surprised everyone. Many years have passed since the Bhopal gas tragedy, but a bitter truth remains that the exact figure of death in the incident has never been revealed. After the whole incident, people living in nearby settlements started to suffer from suffocation, cough, eye irritation, bloating and vomiting. Soon thereafter, a huge crowd of patients started arriving at the hospital.

Let me tell you that many of the children who were born there after this tragedy were born disabled and many came into this world with some other disease. On June 7, 2010, a local court ruled on the incident, though the accused were sentenced to only two years imprisonment and later all the accused were released on bail. Warren Anderson, the then Chief of Union Carbide India Limited and the main accused in the tragedy, also died on September 29, 2014.
