Pak National Assembly passes resolution to protect 1973 constitution

Islamabad:  The National Assembly asked the state bodies to take all necessary steps to guarantee full implementation of the constitution and protect the rights and interests of the people of Pakistan in the resolution voted on Monday.

Shahbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, introduced the resolution, which underlined the value of sustaining federalism as one of the key foundations of the constitution.

Sharif pledged to protect the constitution's sanctity in his statement for the occasion by advancing common people and fostering Pakistan's economic growth and independence.

The prime minister declared, "Constitution is the protector and guiding principle of Pakistan, and we can give our lives to protect it."

Sharif referred to the Pakistani constitution as the "mother of all state institutions," adding that it is a civil compact that all Pakistani citizens have agreed to in order to maintain the country's unity.

It stated that for their contributions to Pakistan's constitutional history, which served as the cornerstone for its development and prosperity, the 25 members of the Constitution Committee and all members of the Fifth National Assembly deserve respect, admiration, and gratitude.

"The Golden Jubilee of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan's Constitution is an opportunity to honour the document's authors and to reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding the ideals and principles they entrenched.

The Constitution of Pakistan adopted in 1973 was drafted by a panel of 25 members under the chairmanship of Honorable Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, who worked tirelessly and with great dedication to ensure that the Constitution reflected the aspirations and ideals of the people of Pakistan.
