ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has termed as "inappropriate, unnecessary and provocative" the statement of India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, in which Rajnath Singh had spoken of giving a befitting reply to the proxy war of the Pakistani government and its army. Pakistan has said that such provocative statements are being made in view of the assembly elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh and other states of India.

Pakistan has said that it strongly condemns Rajnath Singh's remarks, which raise questions on historical facts, make baseless allegations about terrorism and are threatening Pakistan. It is worth mentioning that while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of 'Swarnim Vijay Parv' being celebrated on the completion of 50 years of 1971 war, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh attacked Pakistan. He had said that, 'The 1971 war reminds us how big a 'historic mistake' was the partition of India on religious lines and Pakistan has been continuing a proxy war against India since then.

Rajnath Singh had said that, 'Pakistan dreams of breaking India by promoting terrorism and anti-India activities. Indian soldiers had foiled this plan of Pakistan in the year 1971 and our brave soldiers are working to eliminate the root of terrorism. We have won in direct fight and we will register victory in proxy fight also.
