Pakistan again violate ceasefire in Anantnag

SRINAGAR: Three persons were injured on Sunday in firing by Pakistani troops in violation of a ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The police gave information about this. The three men, who were injured in the firing in Kirni, Kasba, Bandi Chechian area of Poonch, include two girls from the Pakistani side.

"The injured have been sent to hospitals where doctors have told them out of danger," police said in a briefing.  Defence Ministry Spokesman Lt Col Devendra Anand said that heavy firing took place between Indian and Pakistani troops after Pakistani troops fired shells on Indian positions without any reason. He said, Pakistani troops targeted Indian posts in Kirni, Kasba and Mendhar areas of Poonch, which was effectively retaliated by the Indian side.

In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces and militants have been on counter-insurgency operations since Monday morning in Anantnag district. According to information, the security forces had received intelligence inputs that the terrorists were hiding in Anantnag district. On the basis of intelligence inputs, security forces launched a search operation and the encounter started. As a precautionary measure, security forces have cordoned off the area.
