India lodges protest over Indian embassy in Karachi

Islamabad: India has lodged a protest with Pakistan. This is because of the attempt of encroachment by unidentified persons on the consulate in Karachi. People who know about the case said that India has clearly said that the property should be vacated immediately from the possession of unauthorized persons. Earlier also, an attempt has been made to capture the house of the Indian High Commissioner.

The attempt to encroach has been conveyed to Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan, Haider Shah. He was summoned by the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday and lodged a strong protest against him. In a verbaify note, India termed the incident on Wednesday night as a serious issue and said that unauthorised people should be removed from the premises. People say a group allegedly entered the embassy threatening the guards stationed there.

The Embassy in Karachi has been closed since 1994. The military establishment says it does not want the presence of Indian diplomats in the city where the 1993 Mumbai bombings have been plotted and where terrorist Dawood Ibrahim lives. Pakistan has put a condition to open the embassy in Karachi back to allow it to open an embassy in Mumbai.
