New Delhi: In the midst of tension in the relations between India and Pakistan, big news is coming out in the month of Ramadan. On Thursday, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari sent an invitation to an Indian diplomat for an Iftar dinner organised at the Foreign Ministry, which was accepted by the Indian diplomat. An invitation was sent from Pakistan to the High Commissioner of India, but due to his absence in Pakistan, senior Indian diplomats attended the iftar.

According to the received news, Bilawal Bhutto had sent an invitation for Iftar to the diplomats based in the capital Islamabad as well as the Indian diplomat. Sources say India accepted the invitation, and its senior diplomats attended the iftar at the Ministry of External Affairs. India and Pakistan usually avoid inviting each other to such events, but the presence of an Indian diplomat at the Iftar dinner indicates that if Pakistan attends the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting of defence and foreign ministers and he participates in the meetings, there can be a possibility of high-level discussion between the two countries.

SCO includes Russia, India, China, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, and India is presiding over it this year. Pakistan participated in the meeting of the National Security Advisors of the SCO held on March 29. It was being speculated that Pakistan would not participate in this meeting to be held in New Delhi, but just before the meeting, it said that it would participate in the meeting virtually. Pakistan's decision was surprising because just a few days ago, on March 21, it did not participate in a conference organised by the Indian think tank on the contribution of the SCO armed forces to military medicine, healthcare, and epidemics. According to sources, at a function before the conference, the Pakistani delegation showed a wrong map of Kashmir. Expressing strong protest on this, India said that if Pakistan wanted to participate in the conference, it should show the correct map of Kashmir. Thereafter, Pakistan distanced itself from the conference.
