Brussels: In a meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi emphasised the rapidly deteriorating situation in Afghanistan, according to local media.

According to media reports, Qureshi and Stoltenberg addressed bilateral cooperation, the evolving situation in Afghanistan, and other topics of mutual interest, including the situation in the area. Qureshi urged the international community to help Afghanistan with humanitarian and economic aid.

High-level political and military contacts, according to the Minister, have played an essential role in the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. In June of this year, the two met for the first time.

According to the reports quoted by the source, the Minister stated that Pakistan is hosting the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on December 19 in order to draw the world community's attention to the looming humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan.
