Chandigarh: The effect of tensions in relations between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir issue is now beginning to be seen on the Kartarpur corridor as well. Pakistan has slowed down its border construction work. The process of online registration of devotees for this holy gurudwara is expected to start from October 20. According to officials, the four-lane highway leading to Zero Point is about to be ready, but the work is very slow from across the border. It will be a big challenge for Pakistan to finish the work by the deadline of 31 October. On November 8, PM Modi will formally inaugurate the Kartarpur Corridor.

Govind Mohan, chairman of the Indian Land Port Authority and additional secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, said that the pace of construction work from Pakistan is very slow. It can be clearly seen from the Indian side that the road and bridge connecting the Fourlane Highway has not been constructed yet. However, it has been assured from Pakistan that it will build it within time. Govind Mohan said that if the bridge is not constructed from Pakistan side to Zero Point, an alternative road has been built between the dry river.

Transport will be provided from Zero Point to the pilgrims from Pakistan and will also be released back. According to sources, Pakistan has shown this lethargy since the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. The Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs said that India has proposed the first batch of pilgrims to visit Pakistan on November 8. He claimed that 80 per cent of the work has been completed by India. Let us tell you that Pakistan is adamant on taking twenty dollars from Indian Sikh devotees. To which India has objected.
